The joint project of the World Bank and the Center for research and Policy Making aims to investigate the gender specifics of the process of economic mobility. In the town of Debar, data from six focus groups were collected.

Employed, unemployed, young and adults were part of the research sessions. At the same time, interviews with representatives from the local Employment Service Agency and the local entrepreneurs were conducted in order to get accurate and precise image about the economic situation in regards to this town which for several years faces serious brain drain tendencies. All of the interviewees expressed their concerns about the high unemployment rate in Debar and the need for stronger financial assistance in terms of boosting the self-employment opportunities as well as the need of investments as a chance for new job places. The next stop of the joint research teams is the municipality of Sveti Nikole. The results of the project and the research are expected later this year.
